STUDYING THE WORD OF GOD

“Study to show thyself approved to God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Tim 2:15 Webster).”

The Greek word “study” used in this context is “spoudazo,” which means to take advantage of speed. The word “workman” also used here in Greek is “ergates” which means a committed teacher or labourer. Hence, the message to the workman in this time is to take advantage of speed. We are living in a period where God is intentionally arranging for us to change gears and come up higher to another level; an in-depth level of the revelation of Jesus Christ and of God. You don’t have to prove yourself to anybody but God. The agora of your life in Christ should be primarily focused on pleasing God and his Christ. Therefore, you study only to show yourself approved unto God and not man. Without studying, you will never know the blessed packages that God has for you in this time. Constant studying expands your spirit man and causes you to gain more territories in the spirit realm. There is a difference between studying and reading. Whenever you study the word of God, it becomes a part of you. Studying the word of God is a spiritual exercise. Through studying you gain knowledge, which is power, which on the other hand builds up your spiritual tenacity. Most believers are lazy!!! They will never study to come to the realization of deep spiritual truths. They would rather enjoy being fed than to be the means through which God feeds others. “For even though by this time you ought to be teaching others, you actually need someone to teach you over again the very first principles of God's Word. You have come to need milk, not solid food (Heb 5:12 AMP).” These are the same people who will rather choose to argue with you than to accept spiritual truth. These should not be put in a position of authority otherwise they will lead people astray. The reason why a majority of the body of Christ are still in darkness and feeding on old revelation which only causes them to deteriorate or come to a halt in their spiritual growth is their hesitant and lackadaisical attitude towards the study of the word of God. God has placed within you the ability to increase in knowledge, to take advantage of speed and affect the lives of others. Don’t sit down and lazy about! Be wise, get up of your comfort zone and take advantage of speed to show yourself approved unto God. Shalom!!
